Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM) is a fast and effective technique for breaking down scar tissue, fascial restrictions and adhesions in muscles and connective tissue. Mobilising the tissues with IASTM helps to change muscle tone, improve movement, function and discomfort. The technique uses a hand held stainless steel instrument guided over the tissue to assess and treat areas of soft tissue dysfunction and may be incorporated into both chiropractic and sports massage treatments.
